2012 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk & Meghan’s 5th Anniversary
Yesterday was a great day for the BMJFW! It was overcast, not too humid and no rain! We were joined by Colleen’s sister and niece Katie and Maeve Devlin, Colleen’s brother and nephew, Tim and Danny Cronin, our friends the Dietzes - Rick, Liza, Bailey and Lizzie, the Wallaces - Toni, Paul, Marybeth and her pals from PC and Bishop Feehan, and our friend Judy Humphrey! Our goal is to raise $2,500 for Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Meg-a-thoner team. We are led in this effort by 22-year participant and Pacesetter Judy!!! We proudly sported our newly designed Meg-a-thoner shirts which stood out in the crowd and which also honored Meghan’s aunt Sharon Cronin who passed away in February. The energy of this event is wonderful — a big thank you to all our walkers … and you can check out our gang in action below!!
On Thursday September 13th, it will be five years since Meghan passed away and it hardly seems possible. The BMJFW continues to be a wonderful way to remember Meghan’s anniversary. We also have 2 memorial masses planned. On Saturday September 15th our friends the Thursbys have offered the 4:00 mass at St. Marys and the other is Sunday September 16th at St. Marks Church at the 11:00 mass and we will be hosting brunch at our home afterward. We hope that you might take a minute to remember Meghan in a special way this week. Do something that you know would bring a smile to her face or look for a butterfly!! You know she will be near to you! Much Love, Colleen and Frank
- Danny Cronin revved up at the start!
- Meg-a-thoners at the Babson start
- Kate and Maeve Devlin at the finish!
- Jubilant Meg-a-thoners finishing 13.1 mile walk!
First High School Golf Challenge is a HUGE Success!
The 2012 High School Golf Challenge, created by Brett, Patrick and Davis Chatfield, was a huge success with a full field of 62 golfers who represented 10 colleges, 10 area high schools and even 5 local middle schools! Meghan ensured that we had a great day for golf, but our generous sponsors and donors ensured that we were able to raise $10,000.00 in our first year!!
Thank you to all of the players for participating, our wonderful sponsors for their generosity, our donors who provided us with loads of fantastic raffle items and tournament day necessities, and our volunteers who helped to keep us a well-oiled and coordinated machine! We couldn’t have offered such a top notch tournament to the players without your help and support!
We are already looking forward to next year’s tournament with even bigger goals and student participation in mind!! Thank you again, we are sure that Meghan would be most proud of the success of this event and the fact that her friends the Chatfield brothers did this in her name!
